Conservative Member of Parliament Mark Warawa has filed a motion concerning sex selection abortions.
The motion reads:
“That the House condemn discrimination against females occuring through sex-selective pregnancy termination.”
Mr. Warawa indicated in a press release that”recent studies have shown that the practice of aborting females in favour of males is happening in Canada.”
An investigation by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) found that private ultrasound businesses operating in Canada were willing to perform ultrasounds  to identify the sex of the child.
An editorial in the Canadian Medical Association journal published in January of this year reported on the practice of of sex- selection abortion in some Asian immigrant communities in Canada.
In 2011, an Environics poll commissioned by Life Canada found that 92% of Canadians opposed the practice of sex selection abortions.
Sex-selection abortions have been called gendercide and a war on unborn baby girls. Nicholas Eberstadt in the New Atlantis writes:
“In terms of its sheer toll in human numbers, sex-selective abortion has assumed a scale tantamount to a global war agaisnt baby girls.”
Estimates on the number of baby girls ‘missing’ due to sex-selection are in the millions worldwide. Mara Hvistendahl in her book Unnatural Selection: Choosing Boys over Girls, reveals that 160 million girls were never born because of sex-selection abortion. These baby girls are not ‘missing’ they are dead.

Sex-selection abortion creates an imbalance in terms of sex ratios leading to disastrous consequences for the future. Hvistendahl writes about these in chapter three “The Womanless World”:men unable to find wives , women forced into prostitution or kidnapped and forced into marriage.

Action Life suscribes to the following principles:
All human beings have an equal right to life, before and after birth. Society has the duty to uphold and protect that right.
So, it’s all girls and all boys allowed to be born!
