Study reveals that Organs Harvested from Euthanasia Patients make better transplants
A chilling study by doctors in Belgium found that lungs from those who die by euthanasia are more suitable for transplant surgery than lungs taken from accident victims. The study was reported on in the medical Journal of Applied Cardiopulmonary Pathology. The organ donors were killed via euthanasia in a room right next to the operating theater, and then taken to the operating theater where the organs were harvested immediately after the patient was pronounced dead.
Belgian legislation requires that the patient needs to be pronounced dead by three independent physicians before the organ donation. In the study’s timeline, four cases of organ donation after euthanasia occurred. Three individuals had neurological or muscular disorders while one had a mental illness.
The patients were asked about organ donation after their request for euthanasia was approved.
However, considering that a number of euthanasia cases in Belgium are involuntary is it just a matter of time until organs are taken from patients who are euthanized without their consent?
Belgium legalized euthanasia in 2002. A study conducted in 2010 found that only 58% of euthanasia deaths were reported. This organ harvesting after euthanasia is another step down the slippery slope. First the patient is killed by euthanasia then the organs are harvested. A rather disturbing development.
