Frank Mountain, well known to many in the pro-life community passed away on October 31st. Frank had devoted many years of his life, his time and energy to the pro-life cause. Karen Murawsky, past Executive Director of Action Life remembers meeting Frank in the 1970’s. Frank had gotten wind of the existence of a pro-life group in Ottawa and had phoned the office to offer help. Frank and his wife Margie came to the office to do just that. Frank built bookshelves, helped to paint the office, purchased and laid carpeting for the office.Frank worked tirelessly and was then induced to join the Executive of Action Life. Frank came up with the idea of a raffle as a fundraiser for Action Life, a fundraiser still in use today. Frank also helped with pie sales. He was a pro-life teacher and would drive around town in a car carrying the message “Abortion kills babies”. Karen remembers that at least two babies were saved as a result of the messages on Frank’s vehicles. Frank also held Action Life information nights at Frank Ryan School showing pro-life films to the general public. Frank was instrumental in helping ActionLife establish relations with the Catholic school board. Frank was an inspiration in many ways. He never allowed the accident he suffered in 1988 which left him paralysed, prevent him from continuing his pro-life work. At the time, Frank and his wife Margie had five young children. Frank’s faith and trust in God and the support of his wife Margie, allowed him to be as active as ever for twenty years after his accident. Following his years with Action Life, Frank left to work with the political pro-life organization Campaign Life. Frank’s contributions and devotion to the pro-life cause are legendary. He will be fondly remembered by many in the pro-life movement.
